Yarun Ecoflix: Bribie Island’s Premier Environmental Film Festival Debuts This September

Get ready, Bribie Island! The much-anticipated Yarun Ecoflix Saturday Afternoon Film Festival is set to make its debut on September 28th at the Woorim Community Hall. This unique event, hosted by the Bribie Island Environmental Protection Association Inc. (BIEPA), promises an afternoon of environmental inspiration, showcasing films that will both challenge and uplift.

The festival has been expertly curated with the support of the Environmental Film Festival Australia (EFFA), bringing together a selection of impactful films from across Australia and New Zealand. Each film in the Yarun Ecoflix lineup offers a fresh perspective on environmental issues, highlighting critical topics such as species protection, direct environmental action, and the restoration of natural landscapes, known as “Country.”

As attendees immerse themselves in the festival’s cinematic offerings, there will also be opportunities to engage with the local community’s environmental efforts. During the breaks, festival-goers can explore the “ecotables,” where various community groups and BIEPA’s Mission Teams will showcase their initiatives and discuss the ongoing work being done to protect and preserve the environment.

This inaugural event promises to be more than just a film festival; it’s a call to action and a celebration of the resilience and creativity of those fighting to make a difference. Whether you’re passionate about conservation, curious about the latest in environmental advocacy, or simply looking for an inspiring way to spend your Saturday afternoon, the Yarun Ecoflix Saturday Afternoon Film Festival is not to be missed.
