The second annual Fun Run hosted by Bongaree Dental and Banksia Beach Dental brought together over 80 participants at Sunset Park, with the local community showing up in full force to support a great cause. The 5km event successfully raised over $2,200 for Variety – the Children’s Charity, making a significant impact on the lives of children in need.
The event began at 9am, with participants arriving early for a group photo and a few words from Kelly Spargo, Practice Manager at Bongaree Dental, alongside representatives from Variety Queensland. The scenic route through Sunset Park provided a pleasant experience for runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels, allowing everyone to contribute to this charitable effort.
Kelly Spargo expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “We are thrilled to support Variety and help make a difference in the lives of Queensland families. Every dollar raised will directly benefit Aussie kids, giving them a fair go at a better life.”
Following the run, participants enjoyed a sausage sizzle, generously sponsored by Avondale Meats at Banksia Beach. The sausages were a hit among attendees, with proceeds from the gold coin donations going directly to Variety Queensland.
Kelly, a representative from Variety Queensland, also conveyed her gratitude, saying, “Because of your help, we can support so many more children through grants, programs, and scholarships. It’s been amazing to see the local community come together today.”
The success of the event has ensured its continuation in the future, with plans already in motion for next year’s Fun Run. “We will be running this event again,” Kelly confirmed. “Today was a huge hit, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.”
